Yesterday was the group presentation. The group really came together in those last few nights before the presentation. We worked together as a team to finalise the slides and make sure everything was working. Ava was having some issues with recording the audio for her slides so we worked together to find a solution. She sent me her audio recordings on WhatsApp and I was able to insert them into the PowerPoint from my laptop.
One other issue that we ran into was the accessibility of the link that would be shared in class. Walaa and I worked together to try and figure out how to make it so that everyone in the class would be able to access the presentation. The PowerPoint Walaa set up was on her TU Dublin account which meant the access was restricted to TU Dublin members only. I realised just before the presentation that this meant that the guest speakers who were attending wouldn’t be able to view the presentation so I quickly created a new Powerpoint document on a different account and copied the contents of the original presentation into it.

Luckily the new link worked and everyone was able to view our presentation. The presentation ran smoothly, Dagmara introduced us all an then the audience used the link I sent in the chat to view the PowerPoint. It was a good thing that our audio was prerecorded since Walaa had difficulties attending the class. Before this module I hadn’t realised the advantages that working and presenting in a virtual environment would have. For example, even though Walaa was unable to attend, her slides were already recorded, meaning that she was still able to be a part of the presentation. Another advantage I found was that the pressure that comes with presenting virtually was far less than when presenting in the real world. None of us were too anxious on the day because the actual PowerPoint presentation and audio had been prepared in advance.

I think the most important thing that I have learned about online teams by doing this group project is that constant communication between team members is key. Our team kept in touch regularly over our group chat on Instagram, and also by having zoom meetings. This meant that everyone knew what each person was doing and we were able to help each other out when a team member ran into any problems.

Overall I really enjoyed working with my team. Everyone pulled their weight making the workload easy to handle. I am thankful for how cooperative my teammates were and I appreciate all the time and effort that they all put in to this project.
